The formulas
Cube: a³. Box: l × w × h. Cylinder: πr²h. Cone: πr²h/3 (exactly a third of the cylinder around it). Sphere: 4πr³/3. Results are in cubic units of whatever unit you measured in; measure in cm, get cm³.
Volume grows fast
All of these scale with the cube of size: doubling every dimension gives 8 times the volume but only 4 times the surface area. That ratio is why big animals stay warm easier, why grain dust explodes, and why a pot twice as wide holds far more soup than intuition says.
