BMR Calculator
The calories your body burns at complete rest, the baseline every diet plan starts from.
What BMR means
Basal metabolic rate is the energy your body needs just to run (breathing, circulation, cell repair), measured at complete rest. It is typically 60 to 70% of everything you burn in a day. The headline number uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, considered the most accurate of the standard formulas by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics:
BMR = 10×kg + 6.25×cm - 5×age + 5 (men) / -161 (women)
BMR is not your calorie target
You burn more than your BMR the moment you get out of bed. To turn BMR into a daily calorie figure it is multiplied by an activity factor, which is exactly what the calorie calculator does. Eating below BMR long-term is not advisable without medical supervision.
