Pace Calculator
Know two of pace, time and distance? Solve for the third, per kilometer or per mile.
The math
pace = time / distance
50 minutes over 10 km is 5:00 min/km, which is 8:03 min/mi or 12 km/h. For a goal race, flip it: a 4-hour marathon needs 5:41 min/km (9:09 min/mi), held for 42.195 km.
Common race paces
Even splits win races: most runners' best results come from holding a steady pace rather than banking time early. As reference points, a 25-minute 5K is 5:00 min/km, a 50-minute 10K the same, a 2-hour half marathon 5:41 min/km. Racing beyond 90 minutes, expect to slow 2 to 5% in the second half even on a good day, so pace the first half accordingly.
