GPA Calculator

Your grade point average on the 4.0 scale, from letter grades and credit hours.

One course per line: letter grade, then credits. Example: A-, 3

How GPA is calculated

Each grade converts to points (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, and so on down to F = 0), each course's points are multiplied by its credit hours, and the total is divided by total credits. A 3-credit A and a 4-credit B: (4.0 × 3 + 3.0 × 4) ÷ 7 = 3.43.

Scale caveats

This uses the common US 4.0 scale where A+ counts as 4.0. Some schools award 4.3 for an A+, weight honors and AP courses higher, or skip plus/minus entirely. Your transcript's official GPA follows your school's rules; this calculator matches the most common convention.
